vegansaurus!: Discussion: Failed vegan experiments don't have to be total failures

vegansaurus:

I know, I know, we’ve already asked this a million times, but reading the banally sad summary of Grist’s four-writer, 30-day vegan challenge, I have to conclude that either a vegan diet isn’t for everyone. Why it isn’t for everyone is debatable—not knowing the benefits? Not caring?…

My “Another recipe that’s so easy, it shouldn’t even be called a recipe” lfrv chocolate bites
- Bananas- Cacao- Dates- Handful of walnuts
Blend bananas and cacao until smooth. Add dates and blend until incorporated. Roughly chop walnuts and mix through.
Spread mixture onto baking paper and place in freezer. Once solidified, slice and enjoy! Keep stored in freezer.

Yum!  I like this because you can easily omit the walnuts for an overt-free version.   I’ve found adding vanilla bean and a dash of cinnamon always enhances the chocolatey flavor, too ;)

Must try this!

The Vegg

exploitationiscontagious:

ā€œTHE VEGG —A brand new incredible, edible egg-free product has just hit the market, making vegan eating even easier and tastier than ever before.Ā The Vegg is a versatile egg yolk replacerĀ that can be used (instead of egg yolks) in a wide range of recipes, and you can even use it straight as a liquid ā€œyolkā€ for dipping toast in.

The Vegg is all-vegan, which is great news for the more than 250 million egg-laying hens in the US, most of whom spend their lives intensively confined inside barren wire cages. And since it’s made using 100% plant-based ingredients it’s also cholesterol-free.
INGREDIENTS: Nutritional Yeast Flakes, Sodium Alginate, Kala Namak, Beta-Carotene

Plus, every time you buy The Vegg, you can have an even greater positive impact becauseĀ 10% of net sales will be donated to Compassion Over KillingĀ until 2014!ā€

Has anybody tried this??? Looks too good to be true!

I bought some but I have no idea what to do with it oops

Are you kidding??? The website has SO MANY RECIPES and I want to try them all. I think if I bought it it would last me a week, tops, because I’d be egging up everything!

Devonshire Klotted Kream - Great taste, minus the moo!

exploitationiscontagious:

ā€œWho says you can’t enjoy luscious thick cream when you are vegan or if you are lactose intolerant? Well now you can! Introducing Klotted Kream, a new dairy-free clotted cream alternative delivered directly from Devon straight to your door. Go on, treat yourself!

Each 4oz pot (or there’s a larger 8oz pot) of Devonshire Klotted Kream contains enough to slather thickly onto 4 scones or there’s enough to decadently fill a Victoria sponge cake.. But don’t just stop there, think of the other things you could do with it! Used in the place of thick whipped dairy cream, the possibilities are endless..

We are a vegan company so we understand how important ethics are. Klotted Kream is handmade in Devon and is completely free from animal derived products. It’s soya free too and made from a base of oats which have a natural sweetness and a creamy taste and texture.

Klotted Kream is free from: dairy, soya, lactose, cholesterol, saturated animal fat, nuts, sugar, gluten* and cruelty to cows!

*Free from wheat gluten. Contains oat gluten

Also: From every purchase of Devonshire Klotted Kream, 25% of the profits will be donated to animals in need. Our Facebook page will highlight the chosen charity every month!ā€

I WANT SOME OF THIS.

vegansaurus!: Say goodbye to the polar bear

vegansaurus:

Too bad, polar bears, but a bunch of us humans don’t want to stop selling your pelts on the open market, so you can expect to be hunted to extinction.

This issue is tied up with politics surrounding Canada’s First Nations, specifically the Inuit:

There are about 25,000 polar bears…
